Crochet Sun Collar Slider

I love making crochet accessories for my pets. I decided it was time to make my dog something new to wear this summer. A crochet sun collar slider seemed perfect.

I love these collar sliders because they are small and your dog won’t even notice they are wearing them. They will also look super cute with them on.

This is a very easy and quick project. It also doesn’t use much yarn, so it is great for using up your leftover scraps.

For this collar slider I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn and a 5 mm crochet hook.

Materials:

  • Yellow yarn
  • Black yarn
  • 5 mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Elastic

Sun

Start with a magic ring

Round 1: 6 sc inside ring, ch 1

Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12), ch 1

Round 3: (2 sc in first stitch, sc in next stitch) repeat around (18), ch 1

Round 4: (2 sc in first stitch, sc in next 2 stitches) repeat around (24)

Round 5: (ch 6, sl st to second chain, sc in next 2 chains, hdc in next chain, dc in last chain, skip next sc, sl st in next sc) repeat around and fasten off

Use black yarn to stitch the eyes and mouth onto the sun.

Sew a loop of elastic that is large enough to fit around the dog’s collar. Mine was about 3 inches. Attach the elastic loop to the back of the sun.

After you have finished making the collar slider, slide the collar through the elastic loop and put it back on your dog.

I love how cute this crochet sun collar slider looks on my dog. He seems to like it too, so he won’t mind if I make him lots of different sliders to wear.

If you like this project you might also like my crochet dog bandana.
