Spiderweb Tree Skirt

We really love Halloween in our house. We start decorating in September, and keep adding new decorations every year. Last year we decided to start putting up a Halloween tree. This year I decided that I needed a Halloween themed tree skirt for it. I decided to make a spiderweb tree skirt, and am happy to say that I got it done just in time for Halloween this year!

This is a fairly easy project to make. The tree skirt itself is made up of double crochets, and the spiderweb design is done in surface crochet.

To begin surface crochet stitches you will insert the hook into the first space where you want the design to begin.

Next you will pull up a slip knot through that same space.

Insert the hook into the next space.

Pull up a loop through that space.

Pull that loop through the first loop to create a slip stitch.

Continue this process to finish the design you want to surface crochet.

Once you know how to do this you are ready to make the tree skirt.

We are very happy to have a tree skirt for the Halloween tree. It gives it a much more finished look.

I made this tree skirt on the smaller side, because we do not have a lot of space around our tree in our house. This tree skirt could easily be made larger. Each round would just need to follow the pattern of adding one more stitch between the increases. Every round should increase by 12 stitches.
