Last year I made a crochet bunny hat for my cats. I promised them that I would make one for the dog too. I finally got around to keeping that promise and making this crochet bunny hat for dogs.
This hat is made a lot like my Hat for Dogs. The bunny ears are a larger version of the ears from my bunny hat for cats.
For this project I used a 6 mm crochet hook and Red Heart Super Saver yarn.
Crochet Bunny Hat for Dogs
Materials:
- 6 mm crochet hook
- White yarn
- Pink yarn
- Yarn needle
Hat
(in white) start with a magic ring
Round 1: 10 hdc inside ring, sl st to first stitch, ch 2
Round 2: 2 hdc in each stitch around (20), sl st to first stitch, ch 2
Round 3: (2 hdc in firt stitch, hdc in next stitch) repeat around (30), sl st to first stitch, ch 2
Round 4: (hdc in first stitch, 2 hdc in next stitch, hdc in next stitch) repeat around (40), sl st to first stitch, ch2
Round 5: (2 hdc in first stitch, hdc in next 3 stitches) repeat around (50), sl st to first stitch, ch 2
Round 6: (hdc in first 2 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch, hdc in next 2 stitches) repeat around (60), sl st to first stitch, ch 2
Round 7: (2 hdc in first stitch, hdc in next 5 stitches) repeat around (70), sl st to first stitch, ch 2
Round 8: hdc in first 10 stitches, ch 15, sk 15 stitches, hdc in next 20 stitches, ch 15, sk 15 stitches, hdc in last 10 stitches, sl st to first stitch, ch 2
Round 9: hdc in first 10 stitches, 15 hdc in ch 15 space, hdc in next 20 stitches, 15 hdc in ch 15 space, hdc in last 10 stitches (70), sl st to first stitch, ch 3
Round 10: dc in each stitch around (70), sl st to first stitch, ch 3
Rounds 11-12: (fpdc in first stitch, bpdc in next stitch) repeat around (70), sl st to first stitch, ch 3
Round 13: (fpdc in first stitch, bpdc in next stitch) repeat around (70), sl st to first stitch, fasten off
Back of Ear (make 2)
(in white) leave a long tail for sewing and ch 7
Row 1: sc in second ch and each across (6), ch 1 and turn
Row 2: 2 sc in first stitch, sc in next 4 stitches, 2 sc in last stitch (8), ch 1 and turn
Rows 3-12: sc in each stitch across (8), ch 1 and turn
Row 13: sc decrease, sc in next 4 stitches, sc decrease, ch 1 and turn
Row 14: sc in each stitch across (6), ch 1 and turn
Row 15: sc decrease, sc in next 2 stitches, sc decrease, ch 1 and turn
Row 16: sc in each stitch across (4), ch 1 and turn
Row 17: sc decrease 2 times, ch 1 and turn
Row 18: sc in each stitch across (2), ch 1 and turn
Row 19: sc decrease, fasten off
Front of Ear (make 2)
(in pink) ch 5
Row 1: sc in second ch and each across, ch 1 and turn
Row 2: 2 sc in first stitch, sc in next 2 stitches, 2 sc in last stitch, ch 1 and turn
Rows 3-8: sc in each stitch across (6), ch 1 and turn
Row 9: sc decrease, sc in next 2 stitches, sc decrease, ch 1 and turn
Row 10: sc in each stitch across (4), ch 1 and turn
Row 11: sc decrease 2 times, ch 1 and turn
Row 12: sc in each stitch across (2), ch 1 and turn
Row 13: sc decrease, fasten off
Sew the front of the ear to the back of the ear.
Sew the bunny ears to the top of the hat.
My cats are very happy that they are not the only ones that have to wear bunny hats now. My dog wasn’t too sure about this one, but was nice enough to pose for some pictures for me.
