Crochet Sun Hair Tie

Summer is here, and my kids are so excited. We needed to celebrate the beginning of summer with a new hair tie. This crochet sun hair tie is the perfect way to pull your hair back on a hot summer day.

This crochet sun hair tie is a very easy and quick project. It is a small circle with the last round of crochet spikes. For the face I used black yarn to stitch the eyes and mouth. This pattern takes very little time to make, and is very cute.

Crochet Sun Hair Tie

Materials: 4.5 mm crochet hook

                    Yellow yarn

                    Black yarn

                    Hair elastic

Sun

Start with a magic ring

Round 1: 6 sc inside ring, ch 1

Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12), ch 1

Round 3: (2 sc in first stitch, sc in next stitch) repeat around (18), ch 1

Round 4: (2 sc in first stitch, sc in next 2 stitches) repeat around (24)

Round 5: (ch 6, sl st to second chain, sc in next 2 chains, hdc in next chain, dc in last chain, skip next sc, sl st in next sc) repeat around and fasten off

If you don’t want a smiling face on your hair tie you can stop at this point and attach the hair tie to the back. I think that the smiley face improves the hair tie and my daughter agrees, so we made sure to add one.

Use black yarn to stitch the eyes and mouth onto the sun.  Attach a hair tie to the back of the sun.

We loved how this crochet sun hair tie turned out. It is one of my daughter’s favorite hair ties so far.

I hope you enjoy this pattern. If you are looking for more crochet hair ties for the summer I would recommend my Crochet Flamingo Hair Tie, or my Crochet Ladybug Hair Tie.
