We went to a Fourth of July party and realized that I forgot to make anything for our dog to wear. Luckily I always have some yarn around. We looked at what I had and decided to make a crochet firework collar slider for our dog to wear. I love how it turned out.
For this project I used Crafter’s Square acrylic yarn in red and gray. I had a small amount of fluffy yellow yarn that I used for the sparks. A gold yarn would also have worked really well here. I used a 5.5 mm crochet hook for this pattern

Firework Collar Slider
Ch 8 to start
Row 1: sc in second stitch and each across (7), ch 1 and turn
Rows 2-21: sc in each stitch across, ch 1 and turn
Row 22: sc in each stitch across, fasten off
Row 23: attach gray yarn and sc in middle stitch, ch 1 and turn
Rows 24-25: sc, ch 1 and turn
Row 26: sc, fasten off
Tie pieces of fluffy yellow yarn to the top gray stitch to make the sparks on the firework. If you don’t have any yarn that would work for this step the firework can be left unlit and still look great. Sew a loop of elastic large enough to fit around your dog’s collar to the back of the firework.
This crochet firework collar slider turned out so cute. My dog loved all the attention he got when showing it off to everyone at the party.
This collar slider was a great last minute accessory for him to wear on the Fourth of July.
