Today is National Ice Cream Day! Of course we had to celebrate with a new project. This crochet ice cream cone hair tie is the perfect hair accessory for this day.
This project is really easy. The scoop and the cone are made separately, then sewn together. Once the ice cream cone is done a hair tie is attached. If you don’t want to make a hair tie, the ice cream cone will make a great applique for any other crochet projects. Because this uses only a small amount of yarn it is perfect for using up scraps leftover from other projects.
Crochet Ice Cream Cone Hair Tie
Materials: Pink yarn
Tan yarn
Hair tie
5 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle
Ice Cream Scoop
Start with a magic ring
Row 1: ch 2, 6 hdc in ring, ch 2 and turn
Row 2: 2 hdc in each stitch across (12)
Row 3: 6 sc evenly across the bottom of the scoop, ch 3 and turn
Row 4: 3 sc in first stitch, sl st in next stitch, (4 dc in next stitch, sl st in next stitch) 2 times, fasten off leaving a tail for sewing.
Cone
Ch 9 to start
Row 1: sc in second chain and each across (8), ch 1 and turn
Row 2: sc decrease in first 2 stitches, sc in next 4 stitches, sc decrease in last 2 stitches (6), ch 1 and turn
Row 3: sc in each stitch across (6), ch 1 and turn
Row 4: sc decrease in first 2 stitches, sc in next 2 stitches, sc decrease in last 2 stitches (4), ch 1 and turn
Row 5: sc in each stitch across (4), ch 1 and turn
Row 6: sc decrease 2 times (2), ch 1 and turn
Row 7: sc in each stitch across (2), ch 1 and turn
Row 8: sc decrease, ch 1 and turn
Row 9: sc, fasten off
To finish sew the ice cream scoop to the top of the ice cream cone.
Sew a hair tie to the back of the ice cream cone.
