Our oldest cat is turning 17. We always celebrate our pets birthdays with a small party with soft food and treats. We also love to dress them up and take cute photos. This year I decided to make her a crochet party hat for cats.
This pattern is pretty easy to make. The colors can easily be changed to make a hat that will match any birthday party. I may need to work on some cute themed ones in the future.
For this hat I used Red Heart Super Saver yarn, and a 5mm crochet hook. Like all of my cat hats this only takes a small amount of yarn, and is good for using up some of your yarn scraps.
Crochet Party Hat for Cats
Materials:
- Pink yarn
- Purple yarn
- 5.0mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle

(in pink) Start by making a magic ring
Round 1: 3 sc inside ring, sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (6), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 3: sc in each stitch around (6), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 4: (2 sc in first stitch, sc in next stitch) repeat around (9), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 5: sc in each stitch around (9), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 6: (sc in first stitch, 2 sc in next stitch, sc in next stitch) repeat around (12), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 7: sc in each stitch around (12), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 8: (2 sc in first stitch, sc in next 3 stitches) repeat around (15), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 9: sc in each stitch around (15), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 10: (sc in first 2 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, sc in next 2 stitches) repeat around (18), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 11: sc in each stitch around (18), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 12: (2 sc in first stitch, sc in next 5 stitches) repeat around (21), sl st to first sc, ch 1

Make a pom pom out of purple yarn and sew it to the top of the hat to finish it.
My cat was not thrilled with her birthday present, but she wore it a lot longer than I thought she would. At least I know she will enjoy all the treats that we bought her to go along with it.
