After making a hat for my kitten, I decided that I needed to make some for my older cats too. It wasn’t fair for the kitten to have all the fun of modeling my creations. This hat is pretty much the same design as the Kitten Hat, but sized up to fit adult cats.

Hat for Cats
Materials: 5 mm crochet hook
Any color yarn
Yarn needle
Start with a magic ring
Round 1: 6 sc in ring, sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12), join to first sc, and ch 1
Round 3: (2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next stitch) repeat around (18), join to first sc, ch 1

Round 5: (2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next 3 stitches) repeat around (30), join to first sc, ch 1
Round 6: sc in first 3 stitches, ch 12, sk 9 stitches, sc in next 6 stitches, ch 12, sk 9 stitches, sc in last 3 stitches, join to first sc, ch 3

Round 7: dc in first 3 stitches, 12 dc in ch 12 space, dc in next 6 spaces, 12 dc in ch 12 space, dc in last 3 stitches, join, ch 3
Round 8-9: (fpdc in first stitch, bpdc in next stitch) repeat around, join, ch 3
Round 10: (fpdc in first stitch, bpdc in next stitch) repeat around, join and finish off

To finish the hat, all you need to do is make a pom pom and attach it to the top.

This hat is super simple, and takes very little yarn. I think my cats look adorable in them, but they seem to disagree. At least they are all good about tolerating my work long enough for me to take some pictures of them.
