Crochet Pumpkin Hat

My daughter loved the pumpkin hats I made for the cats and dog. I decided to make her a crochet pumpkin hat so she could match with them.

For this project I used Bernat Super Value yarn and a 5 mm crochet hook. I accidentally used a different hook for the hat in the photos, so it is slightly big. She didn’t mind so I let her keep it.

This hat is a very quick and easy project. For the main part of the hat I used the pattern for my Easy Crochet Hat. This hat is a great base for many different patterns.

Materials:

Orange yarn
Green yarn
5 mm crochet hook
Yarn needle

Hat:

To start: ( in orange) create a magic ring and ch 2

Round 1: 10 hdc inside magic ring, join with sl st to first hdc, ch 2

Round 2: 2 hdc in each stitch around (20), join to first hdc, ch 2

Round 3: (2 hdc in first stitch, 1 hdc in next stitch), repeat around (30), join, ch 2

Round 4: (2 hdc in first stitch, 1 hdc in next 2 stitches), repeat around (40), join, ch 2

Round 5: (2 hdc in first stitch, 1 hdc in next 3 stitches), repeat around (50), join, ch 2

Round 6: (2 hdc in first stitch, 1 hdc in next 4 stitches), repeat around (60), join, ch 2

Round 7: (2 hdc in first stitch, 1 hdc in next 5 stitches), repeat around (70), join, ch 2

Round 8: (2 hdc in first stitch, 1 hdc in next 6 stitches), repeat aroudn (80), join, ch 2

Rounds 9-17: hdc in each stitch around, join, ch 2

Round 18: hdc in each stitch around, join, ch 3

Round 19: dc in each stitch around, join

Rounds 20-23: ch 3, (fpdc, bpdc) repeat around

Stem:

To start: (in green) make a magic ring

Round 1: 6 sc inside ring, sl st to first sc, ch I

Rounds 2-5: sc in each stitch around, sl st to first sc, ch 1

Round 6: 2 sc in each stitch around (12), sl st to first sc, fasten off leaving a tail for sewing

Sew the stem to the top of the hat to finish the crochet pumpkin hat.

My daughter loves her new hat! She was much more excited to receive it than the dog and cats were.
