It’s been a while since I made a new hat for my cats. (Not that they mind) I decided that I needed to make them something new for Fall. A crochet pumpkin hat for cats seemed like the perfect fall project.
This is a fairly easy and quick pattern. It is made a lot like my Hat for Cats. For this hat I used Bernat Super Value yarn. Any similar weight yarn will work for this hat. I also used a 5.5 mm crochet hook. If your cat has a larger head you may want to go up a hook size.
Crochet Pumpkin Hat for Cats
Materials:
- Orange yarn
- Green yarn
- 5.5 mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
Hat
(in orange) start with a magic ring
Round 1: 6 sc in ring, sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12), sl st to first sc, and ch 1
Round 3: (2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next stitch) repeat around (18), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 4: (2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next 2 stitches) repeat around (24), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 5: (2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next 3 stitches) repeat around (30), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 6: sc in first 3 stitches, ch 12, sk 9 stitches, sc in next 6 stitches, ch 12, sk 9 stitches, sc in last 3 stitches, sl st to first sc, ch 3
Round 7: dc in first 3 stitches, 12 dc in ch 12 space, dc in next 6 spaces, 12 dc in ch 12 space, dc in last 3 stitches, sl st to first stitch, ch 3
Round 8-9: (fpdc in first stitch, bpdc in next stitch) repeat around, sl st to first stitch, ch 3
Round 10: (fpdc in first stitch, bpdc in next stitch) repeat around, sl st to first st, fasten off
Stem
(in green) start with a magic ring
Round 1: 4 sc inside ring, sl st in first sc, ch 1
Round 2: sc in each stitch around, sl st in first sc, ch 1
Round 3: sc in each stitch around, sl st in first sc, fasten off leaving a tail for sewing
Sew the stem to the top of the hat to finish it.
My cats were unimpressed with their crochet pumpkin hat, but I thought they looked adorable. It’s a good thing that they love me and treats so they are willing to model these adorable hats.
