I haven’t made any new hats for my cats for a while, so I decided it was time to make them something new. Since Christmas is coming up I decided on a crochet Santa hat for cats. This hat will make a great prop for Christmas photos.
This pattern is made very similar to my Witch Hat for Cats. If you enjoyed making that one for your cats, you should give this one a try!
For this hat I used Big Twist Value yarn. I also used a 5.0mm crochet hook.
Crochet Santa Hat for Cats
Materials:
- Red yarn
- White yarn
- 5.0mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle
Hat
(in red) Start by making a magic ring
Round 1: 3 sc inside ring, sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (6), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 3: sc in each stitch around (6), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 4: (2 sc in first stitch, sc in next stitch) repeat around (9), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 5: sc in each stitch around (9), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 6: (sc in first stitch, 2 sc in next stitch, sc in next stitch) repeat around (12), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 7: sc in each stitch around (12), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 8: (2 sc in first stitch, sc in next 3 stitches) repeat around (15), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 9: sc in each stitch around (15), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 10: (sc in first 2 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, sc in next 2 stitches) repeat around (18), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 11: sc in each stitch around (18), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 12: (2 sc in first stitch, sc in next 5 stitches) repeat around (21), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 13: sc in each stitch around (21), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 14: (sc in first 3 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, sc in next 3 stitches) repeat around (24), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 15: sc in each stitch around (24), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 16: (2 sc in first stitch, sc in next 7 stitches) repeat around (27), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 17: sc in each stitch around (27), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 18: (sc in first 4 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, sc in next 4 stitches) repeat around (30), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 19: (2 sc in first stitch, sc in next 9 stitches) repeat around (33), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 20: (sc in first 5 stitches, 2 sc in next stitch, sc in next 5 stitches) repeat around (36), sl st to first sc, ch 1
Round 21: sc in first 3 stitches, ch 12, sk 12 stitches, sc in next 6 stitches, ch 12, sk 12 stitches, sc in last 3 stitches, join to first sc, ch 1
Round 22: (in white) sc in first 3 stitches, 12 sc in ch 12 space, sc in next 6 stitches, 12 sc in ch 12 space, sc in last 3 stitches, sl st to first sc, ch 2
Round 23: (puff stitch in first stitch, sl st in next stitch) repeat around, sl st to first puff stitch, ch 2
Round 24: (puff stitch in first sl st, sl st in next puff stitch) repeat around, sl st to first stitch, ch 2
Round 25: (puff stitch in first sl st, sl st in next puff stitch) repeat around , sl st to first stitch and fasten off
Make a pom pom from white yarn and attach to the top of the hat.
You now have the perfect hat for your cat Christmas photos. I was only able to get a picture of one of my cats this time. I’m pretty sure she did not like the crochet Santa hat for cats as much as I did.
