We have had some very cold days so far this winter. The scarf that my husband wears when he bundles up to walk the dog was starting to get pretty worn out, so I wanted to make him something new to wear on those super cold days. I ended up creating this extra warm crochet scarf.
This is a very easy pattern to make. It is made of rows of half double crochet, and half double slip stitches (hdss).
How to make a half double slip stitch (hdss)
The half double slip stitch is a nice compact stitch that is great for making a warm piece of fabric.

To show this stitch I have started with a row of half double crochet since that is how my scarf was designed. Chain one to start the row of half double slip stitch.

To start the half double slip stitch, yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch.

Yarn over and pull the loop through the stitch.

Continue to pull the loop through the last two loops to finish the stitch.
