Large Crochet Hat for Cats

The most popular pattern on this blog is my Hat for Cats. Since creating this pattern I have received many messages from people who said it was too small for their cats. I have created this large crochet hat for cats to solve this problem. This hat has a band that is a couple inches wider around. Hopefully with this pattern more cats will be able to enjoy this hat.

This is a very quick and easy pattern. I created this hat using Red Heart Super Saver yarn and a 5 mm crochet hook.

Large Crochet Hat for Cats

Materials:

• 5 mm crochet hook
• Any color yarn
• Yarn needle

Hat

Start with a magic ring 

Round 1: 6 sc in ring, sl st to first sc, ch 1 

Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12), sl st to first sc, and ch 1 

Round 3: (2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next stitch) repeat around (18), sl st to first sc, ch 1 

Round 4: (2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next 2 stitches) repeat around (24), sl st to first sc, ch 1 

Round 5: (2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next 3 stitches) repeat around (30), sl st to first sc, ch 1 

Round 6: (2 sc in first stitch, sc in next 4 stitches) repeat around (36), sl st to first sc, ch 1 

Round 7: (2 sc in first stitch, sc in next 5 stitches) repeat around (42), sl st to first sc, ch 1 

Round 8: sc in first 4 stitches, ch 13, sk 13 stitches, sc in next 8 stitches, ch 13, sk 13 stitches, sc in last 4 stitches, sl st to first sc, ch 3 

Round 9: dc in first 4 stitches, 13 dc in ch 13 space, dc in next 8 stitches, 13 dc in ch 13 space, dc in last 4 stitches, sl st to first dc, ch 3 

Rounds 10-11: (fpdc in first stitch, bpdc in next stitch) repeat around (42), sl st to first dc, ch 3 

Round 12: (fpdc in first stitch, bpdc in next stitch) repeat around (42), sl st to first dc, fasten off 

Finish the hat by making a pom pom and sewing it to the top of the hat.
