Kitten Hat

I love all animals. Cats are one of my favorites. We got a new kitten this year and are up to three cats in our house. One thing I love to do with my pets is dressing them up in cute hats and outfits. The cats never appreciate this hobby, but they do at least tolerate wearing them long enough for me to take cute pictures. That is enough to make this hobby worth it for me.

The new kitten was too small for most of the stuff I have around the house, so I decided I needed to create a cute little kitten sized hat just for her.

Kitten Hat

Materials: 5 mm crochet hook

                    Any color yarn

                    Yarn needle

Start with a magic ring

Round 1: 6 sc in ring, sl st to first sc, ch 1

Round 2: 2 sc in each stitch around (12), join to first sc, and ch 1

Round 3: (2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next stitch) repeat around (18), join to first sc, ch 1

Round 4: (2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next 2 stitches) repeat around (24), join to first sc, ch 1

Round 5: (2 sc in first stitch, 1 sc in next 3 stitches) repeat around (30), join to first sc, ch 1

Round 6: sc in first 3 stitches, ch 9, sk 9 stitches, sc in next 6 stitches, ch9, sk 9 stitches, sc in last 3 stitches, join to first sc, ch 3

Round 7: dc in first 3 stitches, 9 dc in ch 9 space, dc in next 6 stitches, 9 dc in ch 9 space, dc in last 3 spaces, join, ch 3

Round 8: (fpdc in first stitch, bpdc in next stitch) repeat around, join, ch 3

Round 9: (fpdc in first stitch, bpdc in next stitch) repeat around

Make a pom pom and attach to the top of the hat.

This is such an easy quick project, that you won’t even feel bad when your pet refuses to wear it for more than thirty seconds. I would love to make a couple matching hats in larger sizes so that I can get a picture of all my cats together in them, but I have a feeling they won’t let me do that.
