Scrunchies

My daughter loves scrunchies. I discovered that they are an easy and quick way to use up my small scraps of yarn. Now she has a ton of different scrunchies to go with all of her outfits.

To make a scrunchie you will need a hair elastic, a crochet hook, and a small amount of yarn.

The first step is to single crochet around the entire elastic. Join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet.

Chain two and double crochet anywhere between 2-4 times in each stitch. The more double crochets you put in each stitch the more ruffled the scrunchie will be.

Once you reach the end attach to the first double crochet with a slip stitch and finish off. Scrunchies are a great project to take with you to work on. I made this one while watching the kids playing in the sprinkler.

Scrunchies are also a great use for all the bits of novelty yarn that I have been given and don’t know what to do with. I have noticed that my daughters favorite scrunchies are the ones made with the craziest yarn.

I hope you enjoy this tutorial and have fun creating tons of scrunchies.
