We have been so busy lately, that I haven’t had the time to create any large Halloween projects. This is disappointing since Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I was happy to finally sit down and make something new, even if it is a smaller project. My daughter loves scrunchies so I made her a crochet pumpkin scrunchie to wear for the Halloween season.
This is a very easy and quick project. I used Big Twist Value yarn, but you can use any brand of yarn you choose for this project. I also used a 6mm crochet hook.

Crochet Pumpkin Scrunchie
Materials:
- Orange yarn
- Green yarn
- 6 mm crochet hook
- 9 in elastic
- Yarn needle
Pumpkin Scrunchie
(in orange) ch 68 to start
Row 1: hdc in second ch and each across (66), ch 2 and turn
Row 2: (hdc in first st, fphdc in next stitch, hdc in next stitch) repeat across, ch 2 and turn
Row 3: (hdc in first stitch, bphdc in next stitch, hdc in next stitch) repeat across, ch 2 and turn
Rows 4-9: repeat rows 2-3, fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing

Fold the rectangle in half and sew along the long edge to make a tube. Feed the elastic through the tube and tie the ends together. Sew the small ends of the tube together to finish the scrunchie.

Pumpkin Stem
Attach green yarn to the top of the scrunchie.
Row 1: place 3 sc in top of scrunchie, ch 1 and turn
Rows 2-3: sc in each stitch across, ch 1 and turn
Row 4: sc in each stitch across, fasten off

My daughter loves her new scrunchie. She thinks it is the perfect fall accessory and will make a great addition to her scrunchie collection.
